Episode Summary
What is the truth behind aggression in dogs?
In this episode, I discuss the often misunderstood topic of aggression in dogs, sharing my insights and experiences.
I also navigate why it’s a complicated topic, debunk myths, and highlight the critical need for empathy and informed management when dealing with a dog showing aggressive responses.
Next, you’ll hear me chat about early warning signals a dog may give, which are often described as submissive behaviours and why these behaviours, such as your dog rolling over onto their belly can actually mean they’re trying to signal to you that they’re not a threat. Ultimately, this is an attempt to avoid needing to use aggressive responses.
Finally, I share my own experiences with my dog Poppy and how we’ve learnt to navigate her aggressive responses and how they link to the trauma she experienced as a puppy.

Have you ever wondered what living with a reactive dog is like?
In this episode, I will share my personal experiences with my Greek rescue dog, Poppy, and the ups and downs of life with a sensitive canine companion. I will discuss how I initially felt embarrassed about her reactive behaviour but gradually realised it was a cry for help and not a sign of hostility.
You will gain insights and strategies on managing your reactive pet’s environment, respecting their social boundaries, and recognising the importance of their downtime needs.
